The biggest problem with portable music players is that they only sound as good as the headphones you plug into them. If you’re a regular reader of TrustedReviews, you’ll know that the best thing you can do with the bundled headphones that came with your player is throw them in the bin. Although some bundled headphones are better than others, I’ve never encountered any that I’d want to listen to for more than a few minutes. |

As noted in the review of the Sony SRS-DZ10 2.1 Speakers, surround sound speakers are a luxury that aren’t always convenient – especially in a desktop PC environment. A set of 2.1 speakers is one solution, but another alternative are surround sound headphones. |

While I was attending CES in January I shared a very pleasant breakfast with the folks from Shure. In between munching on omelettes and toast I got the chance to try out Shure’s new SE range of earphones that were being launched at the show. Since then I’ve been waiting to get my paws on review samples of the new SE range, but now the wait is over. |

Even though Skype is completely free and takes mere minutes to sign up for, I'm getting almost all the Skype equipment thrown at me because I've “already got an account”. It's not as if I particularly mind - after all, I've got to test these headsets, which means a little bit of catch up time with my parents. |

Just recently some of the guys at SteelSeries dropped by our office to show off some of the company's latest creations, and we found out that SteelSeries has started to diversify into the audio sector with its SteelSound products. |

I seem to be spending a lot of my time evaluating high end in-ear headphones these days. Only yesterday I reviewed the Etymotic Research ER.4 micro Pros and a little while ago I looked at the Ultimate Ears super.fi Pros. Now I’ve got Shure’s latest top of the range in-ear set plugged into my head, and the obvious question is, how do they compare to the competition? |

The problem with the majority of digital music players is that for the most part the bundled headphones range from below average to downright awful. Unfortunately most users tend to just use what’s given to them, without ever realising just how much better the sound could be from their iPod, Zen, Walkman etc. I can understand why most people don’t want to walk around with huge cans stuck to the side of their head, but these days you can buy some truly exceptional in-ear headphones that will allow you to appreciate just how good your player can sound. |
