In our 2006 retrospective "Ultimate Mouse Smack-down," we awarded the Microsoft/Razer Habu mouse a "dishonorable mention," yet we hadn't even reviewed it. Why? It wouldn't work. We spotted several online forums of disgruntled Habu owners who also shared similar problems, so we assumed this was the work of a product rushed out to store shelves without proper drivers and firmware to support it. While these owners eventually got their Habu to work, we couldn't, which was very frustrating. Turns out that our Habu was D.O.A., and a second one greeted us warmly when first plugged in. |

If you're going to spend a lot of time playing games on your PC—whether you jump from one game to the next or obsessively hone your skills in a single title—one of the first things you need to do is ditch that sorry mouse that came with your PC and get a quality gaming mouse. It doesn't need to cost an arm and a leg, but a good quality mouse built for gaming will truly provide smoother and more accurate tracking with less hand movement, as well as providing good driver tools to tune the mouse to the way you want to play. |

Productivity is always important, and employers are often keen to help their staff by providing them with the technology to help them make their lives easier – dual monitors is a good example. Yet, despite the increasing use of two displays in the workplace, you’ll often still find people using the cheapest OEM mouse they can find. Why? |

Engaging in virtual 3D worlds is no longer the work of science fiction writers. Architectural programs like CAD and games like first-person shooters have made 3D apps at home and work commonplace. Next-gen operating systems like Vista are bringing in a slew of 3D apps for daily use, which makes it increasingly important to consider a controller that can let you take advantage of these features. Such input devices are commonly referred to "Six degrees of freedom" or 6DOF. In fact, we reviewed a 6DOF controller yesterday, the SpaceNavigator. |

Ideazon made a name for itself in the gaming community with the Zboard, a keyboard that lets you insert and remove custom key sets for popular game titles. Since then, we've kept Ideazon in our cross-hairs, and have been lucky enough to review some of its more recent offerings, such as the MERC gaming keyboard and the WASD-friendly Fang. Now, Ideazon crosses the tracks and takes a stab at gaming mice, with its Reaper Gaming Mouse. Entering the fray against Logitech and Razer, who have dominated the gaming mouse market, isn't an easy undertaking, but the Reaper has one weapon that will serve it well in this quest—its low price: The mouse only costs $30. |

We do plenty of mouse reviews here at ExtremeTech. And why not? High-end products like Logitech's G7 Laser Cordless and Creative's Fatal1ty line cater to the kind of performance enthusiast gamers and do-it-yourselfers want. Even mice that aren't specifically for gamers will sometimes have a pretty steep price tag attached because they bring nifty new technology to your desktop—the new Logitech MX Revolution is a good example. |

The IntelliMouse demands no introduction. The original model debuted back in 1996 and became a hit from then on. Since that time, many new designs have refined the IntelliMouse line, including the Explorer 3.0 released in 2003 but later removed from the market. In response to public grumbling over the removal of the 3.0, Microsoft decided to re-release the venerated mouse, but this time with gaming as the selling point. |
