HP’s Vivera inks and scaleable print technology have together improved the print quality and reduced the cost of the company’s ink-jet printers. The Photosmart D7160 is one of the latest beneficiaries and has a couple of other good features as well. Selling at around £80, it's surprising to see the range of facilities available. |

While Lexmark may be known for cheap and cheerful ink-jet devices in the home market, it has a completely different reputation in the business sphere. The company’s range of mono and colour laser printers for workgroups and SMEs are highly regarded. The C532dn is designed for network use and comes with a built-in duplexer, with resulting paper economies. |

The humble inkjet printer has been rather overshadowed in recent times by the all-doing multi-function machine. HP makes a good range of All-in-One devices; it probably should, given that it practically invented the concept. The 6310 sits between the 5600 series and the 7210 series, targeting the SOHO market and including a networking connection, so its functions can be easily shared. |

When reviewing printers there’s a temptation to equate size and weight with price. Doing that with TallyGenicom’s 8108N gives you a completely skewed view, though, as this entry-level machine is only £150, a very good price for a colour laser. |
