It's been a while since I looked at Xandros. True to form, it has remained one of the easiest to use and flat out slickest Linux distributions available. This version of Xandros focuses on the "digital lifestyle" and includes wireless network profiles, a music manager with iPod & MP3 support, photo manager, video players and internet telephone via Skype, among other things. This version also provides good security tools such as a built-in firewall and anti-virus. |

For a long time, there was nothing to talk about in web browsers. You used Internet Explorer, and that was it. Oh, to be sure, some Mozilla/Netscape holdouts clung to their ways, as did a smattering of users of Opera, Konqueror, and other obscurities. Internet Explorer itself hasn't had a major version change since the release of 6.0 in 2001, so there wasn't much to talk about there, either for five long years. |

Zoho's slogan is "Productivity 2.0." And the company, an initiative of AdventNet, backs up that broad-sounding objective of Web 2.0 functionality with one of the deepest portfolios of web-based business tools around. Its office-type offerings include Zoho Writer, Zoho Sheet, Zoho Show, and a collaboration tool called Zoho Virtual Office. Zoho also offers web-based business tools—Zoho CRM, Zoho Creator (for developing business and personal web apps), Zoho Planner—an online organizer with todo, reminders, and notes; and Zoho Chat—a group chat tool. The collaboration member of the suite, Zoho Virtual Office, includes an email client, shared documents, calendars and more. |

The Internet is supposed to be interactive, right? It's not just about being a passive watcher of Web sites, but about sharing your input, as well. The Flock browser is an attempt to bring some of the Web 2.0-style concepts right to the application that gives you a view of the interweb. Built on top of FireFox, Flock incorporates "mashups"—the hip buzzword for web service integration—with social bookmarks (with del.icio.us and Shadows), photo sharing (with Flickr and Photobucket), and blogging—with tools built into the browser for posting to your blog. In fact, it's this integration on which Flock's creators intend to build their business model, cutting deals with other web services. |

It's not very often that we have a chance to take a look at a new Windows operating system here at AnandTech. Not including the release of Windows XP x64 (the 64-bit version of windows) last year, Microsoft's premier operating system for workstation and home computer use has been Windows XP for nearly 5 years; that's an unprecedented period of time from Microsoft. However, that quiet period is about to come to a close early next year, as Microsoft begins to ramp up for the release of the next version of Windows: Windows Vista. |
